The Kwai Chung project, part of the road and rail junction that will serve the new Chep Lap Kok Airport on Lantau Island, is located on the perimeter of the Kwai Chung container port, currently the busiest in the world. The project comprises: 3 km dual four-lane main viaduct, 8-20 m above grade; 3.3 km of one- or two-lane access ramps; and 5.5 km of single- or double-track railway bridges, mainly located under the main viaduct. This represents a total of 11.8 km of viaducts and 202,000 m² of bridge deck, all built in a densely urbanised area within 41 months. |
