The Jiangyin Yangtze Bridge is a dual three-lane, 1385-m-span suspension bridge designed to cross a busy waterway in difficult ground conditions. The bridge forms a vital part of the expressway network of Jiangsu Province. The classical form of the structure is inherently elegant and its design maintains clean and bold structural lines. Foundation designs were developed to overcome the poor ground conditions. The superstructure designs draw upon modern developments in suspension bridge design, including the use of pre-formed parallel-wire-strand cables and a streamlined steel box-girder deck. |
