This 10-story office building in Manhattan's Chelsea District serves as the corporate headquarters of IAC/InterActiveCorp, one of the world's largest multi-media firms. The 17,650 square meter facility is a sculpted reinforced concrete structure delicately clad with an all-glass, field-fit curtain wall system. The unique design is reminiscent of billowing boat sails on the adjacent Hudson River; and the twisted exterior form produces dramatic angles and spectacular views for the interior office spaces. Because of its free-form shape and the high degree of integration required from trade-to-trade, the building, from structure to cladding, was documented in a three-dimensional modeling package. The vision, analysis, and execution of the building results in the most recent chapter in a short list of projects under the heading “Structure as Art.” |
