In the past, large exhibitions, congresses and professional conventions in Linz were often staged in cramped and improvised spaces. In 1998, the City of Linz decided to invest approximately USD 75 million in the construction of a multi-functional center. An open competition for architects and engineers throughout Austria was announced and participants from other European countries were invited. From the project's inception, the Design Center Linz was developed as a multi-functional building complex. Room sizes can be flexibly adapted for large and small events. Different events can be held concurrently, combined or separately. Events may range from exhibitions and product presentations to balls and banquets or congresses and conventions. |
