Replacement of the Hastings Swing Bridge

Construction of a new steel swing bridge to replace the existing structure. The bridge, with a length of 25 meters (82 feet), is located in the village of Hastings, in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The swing bridge is located at Lock 18 on County Road 45 in Hastings, which belongs to the Trent-Severn Waterway. This project required the production of 200 tons of steel components including 186 square meters (2006 square feet) of orthotropic deck. Despite a very tight schedule for installing the components, the project was completed on schedule. An additional challenge was the swaying of the bridge and its new components to an existing pivot.
