Abstract:

Learning with the Stahlbau-Wiki of the TU Darmstadt - A constructionistic teaching and learning system aided by computers.

Due to their theoretical basics and complex relationships the second order theory and the theory of stability belong to the most ambitious subjects of the education of steel construction. Therefore most civil engineering students have severe problems to learn, to understand and to apply these topics. Based on the "Normalkonzept" that consists of lectures, exercises and examinations a newcomputer supported teaching-learning-concept is developed. This constructivistic concept activates self-contained learning processes under the aspects of reflection and social interaktion. It was applied six times at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. Thereby it was analysed and evaluated intensively. The results showed significant increases of knowledge to the content of the second order theory and the theory of stability by students.
