Abstract:

An expansion joint system as a finger construction with direct transfer of the anchoring forces into the concrete

Finger construction is an expansion joint construction that has been employed for decades. The finger form means that this expansion joint produces particularly low noise emissions and gives it an excellent comfort when passing by vehicles. An innovative anchoring solution, which transfers the anchoring force with the help of special anchoring elements directly from the finger into the bridge construction, is currently in development for standard testing and is presented here. To ensure water-tightness of the finger joint, durable solutions have been developed in the meantime.
