Abstract:

This paper describes an innovative steel concrete composite beam with a collaborating bottom slab. The element is built up by a steel profile, welded to a bottom steel winged plate which is also the connection with the surrounding concrete. The experimental results concerning six beams tested until failure are explained and compared with those of appropriated analytical and finite elements analysis. The results show the efficiency of the structural elements and encourage further studies on this topic.
