Abstract:

Title in translation: A two-component model of the pF-curve for structural changes in soils

A model for the relationship between saturation and pore water suction is proposed, which frame consists of simple, physical meaningful values. The aim is to increase the accuracy of forecasting of pF-curves by decreasing the amount of pure curve fitting to measured values. Some mechanisms of structure development and change of pore size distribution of cohesive soils are discussed. Finally, a simple extension is given to calculate the coefficient of permeability of partially saturated soils.
