Abstract:

Application of the Generalized Beam Theory in practice

The number of scientific publications which are connected to the Generalized Beam Theory (GBT), beginning with Schardt's paper in 1966, should be about 70 right now. Most of these publications are rather theoretical so that the practical applicability of the GBT inevitably stays in the background. Therefore, the following essay by giving some examples is supposed to show, that in some practical cases the application of the GBT is to be preferred in comparison to the Finite Element Method.
