Chronology

26 May 2002, ca. 07:48

A barge collides with the bridge causing four spans and three piers collapse into the Arkansas River and taking ten or more vehicles with it. 14 persons are killed and five injured.

29 July 2002

Bridge is reopened to traffic after repairs are completed ahead of schedule.
