I-90 Innerbelt Bridge - Controlled Demolition, Inc. : Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Implosion Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Joseph B. Fay Company of Tarentum, Pennsylvania) performs the successful explosives felling of six (6), structural steel spans (totaling 1,550' long) of the I-90 Innerbelt Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio at 6:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2014. The explosives sequence required the precision felling of the spans which passed adjacent to a mainline Norfolk Southern Railroad trestle, above a CSX railroad spur and two (2) active city streets (with live underground gas, electric and fiber optics cables), and within 11' of third party properties to remain.

Controlled Explosive Demolition: Innerbelt Bridge Cleveland : CLEVELAND - Cleveland's old Innerbelt Bridge disappeared in seconds Saturday July 12, 2014 as the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) did a controlled explosive demolition of the steel skeleton. When the bridge opened along Interstate 90 (I-90) in 1959 it was the widest bridge in Ohio, carrying four lanes in each direction, ODOT said. The bridge carried interstate traffic in both directions and was a classic steel "Pratt Deck Truss" with a cast-in-place concrete deck and steel parapets. It stood 128 feet tall, 116 feet wide and was 5,078 feet long. The bridge will be replaced by the George V. Voinovich Bridges. For more go to: http://www.newsnet5.com/
