Chronology
| 2003 | During the American invasion of Iraq, the bridge is partially destroyed and can no longer carry traffic. |

| July 2003 | A temporary bypass is built to accomodate for traffic. The bridge can then be repaired. |
| 3 March 2004 | Bridge is re-opened. |
