Construction of the 63rd Street Tunnel begins.

10 October 1972

Tunnel construction is completed.

29 October 1989

The tunnel is put into service, however only the subway tracks on the upper levels are used for the New York Subway F trains.

2000

Completion of the 63rd Street Tunnel Connector which links the 63rd Street Tunnel to the IND Queens Boulevard Line.

17 December 2001

The 63rd Street Tunnel Connector is put into service by shifting the route of the F train.
