"Avenida de la Albufera", viaduct in M-30 motorway (Madrid)

The main features from the design and construction of the new viaduct in the "Avenida de la Albufera" over the M-30 motorway in Madrid are described. As it was necessary to replace the old deck because of the increase of the number of carriageways, the old piers and foundations should be used for for the new one. The erection of the deck had to be as quick as possible in order to minimize its impact in the traffic flow. The solution adopted was a composite steel-concrete deck with steel boxgirders 1,25 m depth and precast reinforced concrete slabs.
