Barbantes Viaduct

The Barbantes viaduct is a continuous bridge with 45 + 5 x 54 + 40.5 m spans, the width of the deck is 25.2 m, a central box 10.8 m width was built by the incremental launching method, afterwards it was widen with side cantilevers of 7.2 m to the full width. There are four piers in the reservoir, the foundations are direct on the rocky bed, the construction of the foundations was done by means of round sheetpile enclosures. The launching of the deck was done downwards with a 5% slope, with a weight of the deck in the last stage of 9400 T. In order to prevent the slippage of the deck in case of fail of the retaining system it was designed a special security system.
