Abstract:

Temporary corrosion protection - State of the Art and Field Report

In prestressed concrete constructions there are different reasons for time delays between manufacturing, prestressing and grouting of prestressing tendons, which can require a temporary corrosion protection of the build-in and pretensioned tendons for a certain time period. The paper gives an overview of the experimental investigations and experiences in the application of different temporary corrosion protection methods in laboratory test and bridges. Afterwards the experiences of a practical application of a dry air corrosion protection at a bridge construction are presented and the state of corrosion of the tendons is analyzed. Finally recommendations are derived, under which conditions a save and reliable temporary corrosion protection with dry air can be achieved.
