Abstract:

The late restraint as an underestimated - but authoritative - load case in design. Part 2: Information for structural designers

Over the last few years the design approach for the point in time and the value of the concrete tensile strength effective fct,eff for calculating the amount of reinforcement required for crack control frequently (e.g. in [1]) has been discussed. Not least, in [2] a concrete technology approach of the topic was made taking the Eurocode 2 [3, 4] approaches into account.
Because a final and universal clarification is not possible this paper is intended to provide some indications and identify some solution approaches. The shown possibilities are always on the safe side concerning the structural design. It is thus possible it might not necessarily be the most economical solution.
