Abstract:

Schlosssteg 2.0 - A new reconstruction of a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists across the river Ybbs in Waidhofen, Austria.

In the summer of 2015, a pedestrian and cyclist bridge was built in Waidhofen across the river Ybbs. The bridge has a span width of 60 m. It replaces an existing structure, which had to be removed during construction - which, added to the local circumstances, resulted in an unordinary construction and dismantling concept. By consistently applying a holistic design strategy a bridge structure could be created that harmoniously blends with its environment and was put into practise within short time.
