Abstract:

Design of Cochrane bridge in Alabama (USA)

The Cochrane bridge, with a total length of 1740 m, has been designed as a prestressed concrete cable-stayed main bridge with concrete box girder approaches. The cable stayed bridge has a main span of 238 m length and two end spans of 110 m length. It is 28 m wide and supported in two planes of stays. The article includes a description of characteristics, erection process, design criteria and aerodynamic behaviour in the wind tunnel test for the cable-stayed bridge.
