Completed Overpass Bridges. Structural design taking into account the horizontal forces in bridges projects

In this report is shown the project criteria followed in the completion of a series of highway overpass bridges, whose particularity consists in that they are found in one of the areas in Spain having maximum seismic movement (Grade IX). The magnitude of the horizontal forces derived from the seismic movements has motivated the utilization of a calculation scheme which affords advantages in the good usage of materials and provides resources to achieve a more adequate structural design.
