Abstract:

The new Löwenbrücke in Bamberg, Germany - Genesis of a mixed building structure

Within the completion of the new Löwenbrücke the city of Bamberg calls another bridge her own which is well prepared for the increased demands of the Main-Donau-Kanal. At the same time this is a visible sign of modern and sophisticated structural engineering in the field of bridge constructions. Its total width of more than 23 m does not only offer more space for the traffic compared to its predecessor. The pedestrian area is separated from the area of cars and bikes. So this special suspension bridge now allows the people to pass the Main-Donau-Kanal in a secure and comfortable way.
