Abstract:

Compoasite materials in building and engineering. II. Materials with polymeric matrix

Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) are being increasingly used in Building and Civile Engineering. Among them, the most widely used material is Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP). In this paper, different production methods of GRP are presented as well as the mechanical properties achieved. On the other hand, main utilisations of FRP in Building and Civil Engineering are also shown, their advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional materials being analyzed.
