Abstract:

The Kao-Pin Hsi Bridge is part of the Second Highway in southern Taiwan and crosses the Kao-Pin River between Kao-Hsiung County and Pin-Tung County. The bridge system consists of 36 conventional continuous bridges and cable-stayed bridge. The short spans of the conventional bridges are constructed by the advanced shoring method, while the long spans of these bridges are constructed by the cantilever beam method. The cable-stayed bridge, perhaps the most important and difficult part of the bridge system, was designed to be a landmark for Pin-Tung County.
