Special inspection of the cable-stayed footbridge at El Perelló

Among the intervention works performed on existing structures it is necessary to determine the current condition of the structure (both globally and locally) in a precise way in order to be able to take the decision-making process rationally, detecting problems, their causes and implications. The goal of the present paper is to expose the special inspection works performed in the cable-stayed footbridge over the channel of "El Perelló" (Valencia, Spain).The paper describes the current structure, offers a general panoramic view of the inspection works performed and explains in deep detail the most outstanding ones. In particular, the study of the paints used and the indirect evaluation of the tension of the cables are presented.
