Abstract:

Factory planning in focus - Between machines and structural works

Factory planning has always been a discipline that is between the topics of mechanical engineering and plant construction on the one side and civil engineering and architecture on the other side. This cross-sectional topic is therefore affected by influences of these different departments. This paper is to explain the tasks of factory planning and to define the term; furthermore this discipline shall be subdivided and the tasks shall be separated. Moreover it plays an important role to discuss the elements and the importance of production facilities. Because of changing influences in production and other global developments in society and economy there are new challenges for the factory planning to be handled by the factory planners of manufacturing companies. What duties and responsibilities factory planners have in their daily work is finally explained by means of some examples.
