Abstract: Paper presents the results of failure analysis of corrosion protection of steel bridges including evaluation of microclimate corrosivity and critical areas of bridge steel constructions during their service life. Microclimate around the road is higher mainly due to high deposition of chlorides from de-icing salts. This effect is not found to be significant only in winter season but during whole year. The durability of corrosion protection is affected even in project period when the design details may be inappropriate from the point of application or maintenance of corrosion protection.
