Abstract:

Renewal of the corrosion protection inside the container of the Groitzsch Water Tower, Germany.

2010 saw the renewal of the interior corrosion protection of the water container of the historic Groitzsch Water Tower, built in 1903/1904. The massive corrosion damage incurred in the period and the occasionally less than professional maintenance work carried out meant that a very poor structural and corrosion protection state existed at many points. This resulted in the necessity to implement structural steel repair measures and the requirement of correspondingly tailored corrosion protection specifications. The implementation of the renovation work is described and measures in the scope of the quality management of the work presented.
