Abstract:

Textile reinforcedconcrete layers for a durable protection of building surfaces in hydraulic constructions

An innovative and durable protective layer for concrete surfaces with simultaneous crack-bridging properties was developed during research at the Institute of Building Materials Research, Aachen University. This layer is composed of cement mortar and is reinforced with textile structures. The combination of these materials allows a durable, waterproof and crack-bridging repair. This innovative layer has been named DURTEX (in German DURTEX: durable, waterproof, crack-bridging textile reinforced concrete). The following paper presents the concept behind DURTEX, recent research results and the repair concept on the weir Horkheim.
