Abstract:

Updated design-charts for military load classifications of road bridges

Similar to the established charts acc. to "Homberg" updated design-charts to determine sectional forces induced by military vehicles on road bridges compared to civil traffic loads are derived. They base on the load model LM1 acc. to DIN-Fachbericht 101 (2009), and the expected LMM with increased axle and distributed loads on the one side and military load classes defined in STANAG 2021 (2006), on the other side. Charts are separately prepared for MLC 50, 100 and 150. They are analytically or numerically obtained from unit moments and evaluations of influence lines including charts for different transverse load distributions and web distances for single and two-span systems modeled as beams or double-webbed T-beams. Examples illustrate the practical application.
