Abstract:

The tendency to lightweight design of pedestrian structures leads to an increased susceptibility against vibrations as induced due to human locomotion. Basically, recent standards and guidelines demand the evaluation of serviceability. However, scientific sound approaches for load models and serviceability criteria are not available. The present study deals with the development of a realistic load model for walking which considers the intra-individual deviations in the locomotion process. Furthermore, for modelling pedestrian streams, the approximation of the arrival rate based on the Poisson distribution is evaluated.
