Abstract:

The paper discusses existing formulations and experimental techniques used in the assessment of cable force based on the vibration method. Illustrating with different applications involving short and long, sagged and stiff cables differently constrained at the anchorages, it is shown that the combination of numerical models with high quality experimental data can provide very accurate estimates of tension.
