Abstract:

The construction, more and more frequent, of urban highways is the cause of the need to build footbridges with spans above 50,00 m, in order to ensure the connection of different areas. In the present paper, three footbridge projects, located in different provinces of the Andalusia region, are presented. In all the case, the length of the main span is upper 45,00 m, and the type of structure has been designed with the aim to present a structure as light as possible. The main idea is to minimize the weight of the deck of the several footbridges designed by optimising different typologies that arises between intermediate behaviours between trusses and elements that work in tension or in compression as cables and arches. During the project, due to the high relationship between pedestrian load and the weight of the structure, a special importance has been given to study the dynamic behaviour of all the solutions presented.
