Abstract:

The Forth Replacement Crossing will be a new road bridge across the Forth Estuary at Queensferry in Scotland. The bridge is approximately 2.6 km long, including a cable stayed structure with 2 main spans each of 650 m and an approach viaduct to the south. The Design and Build contract was awarded on 18 April 2011.

The proposals for construction were prepared according to the contract requirements, and working within the constraints set by the Environmental Statement and Bill of Parliament.

This paper describes the preparation of the winning construction proposal and gives details of how the tender envisioned that the cable stayed bridge and approach viaduct will be built.
