Abstract:

The subject matter of this paper refers to a new form of combined structural systems proposed by the author for buildings located on grounds of small load-carrying capacity and in earthquake areas or in mining damage terrains. The combined arch-funicular foundation is a basic component of this system, which enables transfers of huge forces caused by the entire vertical and horizontal loads to the long reinforced concrete members located on common horizontal slabs. Due to the aforementioned the system enables that stresses below the base of the foundation can be small and uniformly distributed what will make the whole building less sensitive to various settlements of the ground or to earthquakes. When a suitable system of lenticular girder is used in the above-ground structure and at the same time similar configurations are applied in the foundation structure, then the newly designed technical solution is proposed to call the combined structural system of a tall building.
