Abstract:

A new topology optimisation (TO) technique based on meshless method using cellular automata (CA) is introduced for planar structures. We adopt the radial point interpolation method (RPIM) which uses radial basis function (RBF) in the meshless method and the CA is introduced to simulate the process of structural adaptation. The overall structures are controlled by CA to produce optimal conditions with proper control rules. Hard-kill method based on fully stressed design scheme is then combined with meshless method and CA. In order to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed TO technique, several benchmark tests are tackled and compared to some reference solutions.
