"La Grande Tour F" is a 400m+ super-tall concrete building under construction in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, set to become the tallest tower in Africa. This paper presents the structural and geotechnical challenges, including soil-structure-wind interaction, numerical modelling, and the impact of stiffness assumptions on global behaviour. The study details the foundation system, deferred deformation management, and the optimisation of the lateral bracing system. Additionally, the paper discusses wind tunnel tests and the iterative design approach incorporating foundation flexibility. Key construction aspects, such as the execution of the 3.5m-thick raft foundation and the feasibility of layered concreting, are also analysed. |
