This study analyzes the vertical dynamic impedance of pile foundations in periodic railway bridges embedded in transversely isotropic unsaturated soil using a periodic finite element-boundary element (FE-BE) coupling model. The pile group is modelled using FE method. The wave motion equations of unsaturated soil are formulated based on Biot’s theory and solved using precise integration method. To account for the interaction of neighboring foundations, the periodic fundamental solution is derived via the Floquet transform. The pile foundations are subsequently incorporated into the periodic FE-BE coupling model. The proposed model enables accurate assessment of the dynamic impedance of pile foundations, improving prediction of railway bridge responses under dynamic actions. |
