PRODUCT | Expansion of the Panama Canal | Formwork, Scaffolding & Engineering from PERI (EN):The expansion of the Panama Canal was the largest individual order in PERI’s history. Enormous amounts of formwork and scaffolding systems have been delivered to Panama since 2011 – about 1,100 containers.
Due to its dimensions and complexity, the project offered big challenges regarding knowhow, logistics and jobsite support. The cross-country cooperation of many different PERI application engineers, logistics specialists and other experts was one essential key to the project success.
“In this project, we relied on PERI systems for more than 95 %. PERI did not disappoint us, they cooperated committedly and provided us with good solutions and services for smooth work progress“, Rafael Sarmiento (Site Manager Miraflores/Pacific).
amount of concrete used: 6,600,000 m³
amount of steel used: 340,000 tons
area to receive formwork: 2,200,000 m²
4,200 jobsite employees
70 cranes and 30 concrete pumping stations

Gatún Locks

Gatún Locks: The Gatun lock facility on the Atlantic coastline features three sections formed one after the other – each of them is 403 m long and 55 m wide

The climbing system in use on inclined structural components: The working platforms can be tilted ± 15° and ± 30° which means site personnel can always work safely
