For the twin-tube tunnel segments, the construction team formed and concreted the bottom slab and walls in a single pour, then the slabs using two formwork carriages. The limited workspace in the dry dock posed a number of challenges.

The slab formwork carriages were very modular in their design; the great flexibility of the VARIOKIT standard components facilitated simple adjustments to suit project-specific conditions.

As far as possible, the planning included the use of standard system components. For the special shape of the arch, the team developed a project-specific formwork solution.

The formwork for the top external wall area, i.e. the counterpart to the internal arch, was supported by means of climbing brackets. They provided generous working areas and ensured safe load transfer into the previously concreted walls.

Stair towers provided safe access to the 18 m deep dry dock.
