Bridge structure completed.

Notes

This is a concrete precast segmental bridge. The segments were cast in a casting yard eighty miles from the site, and individually transported to the site for erection. The deck is supported on cast-in-place concrete columns, and the foundation consists of cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piles. The segments were erecten in balanced cantilever, and an overhead gantry was used to erect the segments.

The superstructure consists of two variable depth box girders placed side-by-side. The bridge was built in a high seismic zone, and is designed to resist a peak ground acceleration of 0.4g. The bridge is part of the South Bay Expressway, and was built under a design-build contract.

A total of 640 prefabricated deck elements were used.
