Abstract:

In this paper a dynamical behaviour evaluation of the Garcia Cadena Bridge is presented. This bridge is the most important in Bucaramanga (Colombia). It was built in 1970, and enlarged and reinforced in 1995. It consists of eight spans and a total length of 261 m, while its superstructure contains twelve prestressed concrete girders supported on seven reinforced concrete piers and two abutments.

The evaluation includes ambiental vibration measurements, finite element (FEM) modelling, visual inspection, numerical seismic evaluation by using earthquake data and damage evaluation of the bridge.
